Under general direction, the Clinical Lab Scientist interprets and reports test results. This role involves performing routine and complex technical laboratory analyses using established procedures and protocols. The scientist conducts chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests to obtain data essential for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Key responsibilities include performing a full range of laboratory tests, interpreting reports, communicating findings to physicians, and escalating unusual or critical results. The position requires operating and maintaining complex electronic equipment, computers, and precision instruments, ensuring their accuracy through preventive maintenance. Additionally, the Clinical Lab Scientist assists providers in selecting appropriate lab tests, performs and evaluates quality control procedures, troubleshoots instruments, and assists with the proper storage of hazardous materials. Continuous professional development is encouraged through reviewing current literature and attending relevant meetings and seminars.
