Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate Required
  • Minimum of 200 documented, successful blood draws is required.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory software.
  • Able to collect payment for services rendered.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality for all clinic/lab information in accordance with CCRM security and confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide phlebotomy services to clinical laboratory patients according to CCRM protocols (i.e., patient identification, patient preparation, and specimen collection/labeling).
  • Confirm all information with patient and request/facilitate any necessary changes.
  • Confirm patient insurance information and ensure use of contracted reference laboratory when appropriate; route billing information as “bill insurance”; “bill patient”; “bill client”.
  • Process sample(s) for testing, ensure proper transportation/storage conditions, complete requisition forms, and maintain electronic record of all processes.
  • Generate billing, charges, and payment information for laboratory services and perform billing audit as required.
  • Maintain sanitary work environment and follow bloodborne pathogen handling and disposal procedures per OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for phlebotomy procedures; conduct inventory at pre-established intervals and order supplies to maintain inventory.
  • Follow established procedure for returned shipping kits.
  • Review and maintain the RSO to reflect current/pending orders daily.
  • Collaborate with genetic laboratories to ensure proper billing and resolve billing issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
