About The Position

Clinical Lab Assistant - Job Summary Performs laboratory procedures across designated responsibilities including test recording, performance, and reporting. Ensures specimen and testing material quality to produce timely, accurate results that benefit patient care. Handles complex clerical and processing tasks requiring independent judgment for reproducible reporting. Conducts diagnostic testing on clinical specimens with minimal supervision, following standard operating procedures. Provides preliminary assessments to clinicians regarding infection presence and severity. Performs quality control to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of results and prepares quality assurance reports for lab supervisors. Essential Responsibilities Establishes a consistent record of accurate work with attention to detail. Demonstrates commitment to high-quality standards and supports team collaboration. Communicates effectively and appropriately. Exercises sound judgment in determining what to communicate, to whom, and how. Speaks clearly and credibly, listens actively, and respects others' viewpoints. Works independently with minimal supervision. Follows instructions carefully, reports clearly, and seeks guidance when needed. Makes decisions in the absence of leadership. Demonstrates sufficient job skills and knowledge to perform competently. Applies technical competencies and standards in daily tasks. Practices comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols. Avoids shortcuts that increase risk and promotes awareness of unsafe practices. Prepares specimens through centrifugation, aliquot transfer, volume measurement, and ensures proper storage and packaging for in-house or referral testing. Assists technical staff with loading and unloading specimens from analyzers. Manages departmental inventory, including counting and storing received items. Collects and prepares biohazardous waste for lab removal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to understand and follow clinical protocols and procedures
  • Passing scores required on data entry and medical terminology tests

  • Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
