About The Position

Under direct supervision, responsible for training and certifying processing staff in of the operational areas of the laboratory. Must have a thorough knowledge of assigned SOPs for the specific training area(s), ensure consistent training of all staff and have successfully completed all required training programs.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate's in Healthcare-related area required or High school graduate/GED with previous work experience in a healthcare-related position required .
  • Must possess at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience required
  • To include: Demonstrated competency in all CLA I, II, III, and IV tasks.
  • Must possess demonstrated advanced knowledge and competency so as to provide quality control, as well as proficient training and guidance to newer staff.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and independently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to understand, follow, and give precise written and verbal instructions, and perform all activities safely.
  • Ability to establish priorities and follow through on projects, paying close attention to detail with minimal supervision.
  • Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active team member.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply clinical laboratory procedures and theory.

Nice To Haves

  • One-year previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Trainer Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides staff continuing education in the form of training sessions and/or written communication in applicable technical areas.
  • Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.
  • Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
  • Assures quality customer service to all customers.
  • Maintains good attendance and punctuality per the absence policy.
  • Assists with workflow coordination, trains and mentors support staff, as required.
  • Monitors staff compliance to SOP, FDA, and AABB standards.
  • Takes appropriate corrective action or reports problems to the manager or director.
  • Performs competency assessments for clinical laboratory assistants by observing and correcting staff as they perform their functions.
  • Oversees and completes departmental records, Q/A records, forms, and reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, as applicable for the area.
  • Documents all training and competency assessments, SOPs, and guidelines.
  • Assists in tracking and error correction with appropriate documentation of non-reportable and reportable errors.
  • May perform designee duties in the absence of the departmental supervisor. Must have completed all required supervisory training programs prior to acting in this capacity.
  • Maintains awareness and follows all safety procedures as outlined by the organization.
  • Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
