Clinical Lab Assistant
About The Position
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant works under the general supervision of the laboratory section manager in support of the Clinical Laboratory Scientists/Medical Technologists and Technicians. He/she performs duties in the technical areas of the laboratory including specimen handling, inventory, maintenance and others as assigned.Receives specimens and orders appropriate tests as prescribed; processes samples for laboratory testing using various computer applications. Checks for specimen integrity and proper specimen identification. Prints and distributes reports, answers telephone calls from customers including inpatient nurses/physicians and outpatient clients. Processes specimens for multiple Reference Labs.
Requirements
- Prior experience as a laboratory assistant or equivalent preferred.
- HIGH SCHOOL OR GED ASSOCIATES
