Stipends: $3,000.00/year for final year MA students with an additional $1,000.00 for language differential. Schedule: Preservice orientation is required prior to start of internship. Final year graduate interns only. Hours are 24 hours a week over three separate days. Acute Treatment hours are 8-4 and interns must be present on Monday or Thursday mornings. Program description and training opportunities: The Wayside Acute placement serves the adolescent population (12-18), who struggle with a myriad of mental health issues and are seeking services due to a mental health crisis. Acute services are offered through the Day Center and provides services to youth who are struggling with acute mental health symptoms and are seeking more intensive therapeutic services to stabilize and resume baseline functioning. It is a voluntary program, lasting approximately two weeks, comprised of psychiatry services (1x/week), individual therapy (2x/week) and therapeutic groups (4 groups/day). Interns can expect to gain experience in providing diagnostic assessments; individual therapy; group therapy and family therapy; case management, treatment planning; utilization review; crisis intervention, and aftercare planning. Interns are expected to facilitate individual & family therapy as well as facilitate group therapy. This site is a placement for interns who want to increase their skills and knowledge in assessment and crisis intervention. Interns are supported by licensed supervisors and an experienced clinical team.
