About The Position

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Urology based in scenic Charleston, South Carolina, is recruiting a Bladder and Pelvic Health Fellow to join our team as a Clinical Instructor. Successful candidates will possess an interest in the diagnosis, evaluation, surgical and non-surgical conditions of female and male pelvic floor including voiding dysfunction, incontinence (male and female), vaginal prolapse, neurogenic bladder, and urinary reconstruction. This individual will, upon completion of the Fellowship, be uniquely and expertly qualified to serve the needs of an aging and currently underserved population in these areas. MUSC Department of Urology delivers the region's most comprehensive range of Urologic services, encompassing every Urologic subspecialty, with more than 30,000 patient encounters each year. The year-long fellowship experience is a busy, surgical experience utilizing the full spectrum of technology, including robotics and laparoscopy. Your typical week will exist of an average 3 days in the OR and 2 days in a MUSC clinic setting

  • Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted.
  • Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted.
  • Ability to lift and carry patients weighing up to 300 lbs., assisted.
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 200 lbs., unassisted.
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
  • Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to hear and understand whispered conversations at a distance of 3 feet.
  • Must be able to maintain bi-lateral hand movement skills.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
  • Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
