The Clinical Informatics Specialist is knowledgeable about the clinical processes, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement in their clinical area of focus. At this level, the Specialist is not only an expert in core technologies within their area of focus but also knowledgeable about workflows and applications that support core focus area. Job Scope: Lead clinical informatics projects to ensure they are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible and efficient patient care. Serves as an Informatics leader that bridges the gap between people, processes, clinical knowledge and technology. Document specifications that will translate into development of tools, reports, and systems that support organizational business needs. Utilize the SBAR process to plan recommendations for informatics solutions. Ensures workflows/process is current with regulatory agencies and best practice standards. Identifies changes to system to comply with policies and procedures in the most efficient manner. Utilize data to drive process, workflow and behavior change as it relates to appropriate and efficient use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical technology. Serves as a resource to end users for information systems and technology; effectively communicate system changes, workflow process changes, downtime procedures, etc. Participates in the production and distribution of communications related to technology through active internal networking, clinical liaison role, newsletters, announcements and other technology-based mechanisms to health professionals. Routinely conduct intentional rounding in patient care areas to gain overall knowledge of facility specific workflow, patient throughput, and challenges with technology solutions. Monitors outcome and evaluates user adoption of current and newly implemented information technology and functionality.
