Requirements

  • Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics Technology (or field of study equivalent to) AND 5 years of experience servicing medical equipment OR Military experience equivalent to BMET degree AND 5 years of experience servicing medical equipment OR High School Diploma/GED AND 7 years of experience servicing medical equipment
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Advanced electronic troubleshooting techniques
  • Computers and computer networking
  • Microprocessor based systems troubleshooting techniques

Responsibilities

  • Perform timely corrective and preventative maintenance and quality assurance testing on hi-tech clinical equipment used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
  • Evaluate equipment problems to engage appropriate staff to resolve mechanical problem(s).
  • Collaborate with medical staff to address future, present and non-routine and routine technical problems.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency standards for clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to promote a safe and functional patient care environment.
  • Develop and implement equipment testing procedures.
  • Document service events in the C.E. database and maintain service manuals in accordance with the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
  • Provide team leadership and project management to ensure project completion.
  • Manage independent contractors in the installation of new clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment to ensure technically controlled project.
  • Instruct clinical staff on the safety; proper operation and maintenance of patient care instruments as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for Clinical Engineering Department. Responds to after hours calls related to all clinical equipment supported
  • Utilize test equipment to determine functionality of clinical equipment to ensure reliability, dependability and validity of equipment performance.
  • Maintain test equipment in good working condition.
  • Understand and comply with all organizational policies and procedures and operational standards to support a safe and organized work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
