About The Position

The Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento (CRH) is a cornerstone nonprofit dedicated to serving youth and families in crisis through trauma-informed care, compassion, and evidence-based programming. We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven Clinical Director to provide leadership, oversight, and vision for our clinical and residential programs. About the Role Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Clinical Director is a key member of CRH’s executive leadership team and serves as the Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) Head of Service. This role provides strategic and operational oversight for all programs delivering direct care to youth and families, ensuring quality, compliance, and consistency across the organization. The Clinical Director will lead a multi-disciplinary team of managers, clinicians, and direct care staff—cultivating a culture of accountability, compassion, and excellence in service delivery. Acting as both a strategic partner and hands-on leader, this individual will shape the ongoing evolution of CRH’s programs to align with our mission, regulatory requirements, and best practices in mental health and child welfare.

Requirements

Possession of a Graduate Degree in social work, counseling, psychology, child development or related field is required.
Possession of a valid California LCSW, MFT or Psychology License is required.
Three years’ experience in a clinical and/or residential setting working with children is required.
Three years’ experience as a supervisor is required.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must pass First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification courses offered through the Children’s Receiving Home within the first three months of employment.
Must maintain CPR, First Aid and BBP Certification throughout employment.
Must complete online Mandated Reporter Training Course within first week of employment.
Ability to read, speak, understand, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals in the English language.
Ability to write professional/clinical reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Must be able to function independently yet be able to seek guidance when necessary.
Knowledge of standard and acceptable principles and practice of mental health and child protection services, as well as treatment and the multi-disciplinary approach to treatment.
Expertise in assessing challenging clients, experience with assessing children and adolescents desired.
Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM V).
Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic interventions and models emphasizing empirically validated interventions.
Knowledge of standards and accepted principles and practices of supervision, training, and performance planning and review.
Knowledge of the role of social service agencies, both public and private.
Knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, regulations, and guidelines related to the operation and delivery of a variety of client services to individuals and families with particular emphasis on child protection services and applicable reporting laws and protocols.
Knowledge of legal/ethical issues as outlined by BBS or BOP and APA.
Knowledge of basic personnel principles and procedures associated with hiring, performance management and evaluations, training, and employee discipline/development.
Knowledge of standard and accepted methods and techniques to effectively identify problems, gather pertinent data, analyze and evaluate potential alternatives, develop and justify recommended solutions, implement solutions, and monitor for effectiveness and success.
Knowledge of basic structure of resources, operations, and services within a nonprofit organization and consistent with nonprofit guidelines and regulation.
Knowledge of professional standards and requirements for assigned clinical program particularly as it pertains to licensing, accreditation, and standards compliance.
Excellent writing, communication, organizational and time management skills.
Skill to maintain a professional, confidential work environment.
Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time in an efficient manner.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of CPS, child welfare, juvenile justice and mental health systems.
Ability to work varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

Provide executive-level leadership in the administration and continuous improvement of CRH’s clinical and residential programs.
Oversee program goals, outcomes, and compliance with licensing, COA, and STRTP standards.
Serve as Head of Service for STRTP and act on behalf of the CEO as needed.
Lead cross-departmental collaboration to strengthen program effectiveness and integration.
Participate in program contract negotiations and ensure strategic alignment with organizational priorities.
Supervise, coach, and mentor clinical and program management staff.
Promote professional growth through individualized development plans, training, and ongoing evaluation.
Champion a culture of accountability, trauma-informed practice, and cultural humility across all programs.
Collaborate with HR to ensure consistent hiring, orientation, and performance management practices.
Oversee program quality and outcome measurement, ensuring data-driven decision-making.
Partner with Finance to develop, monitor, and manage departmental budgets.
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and accreditation standards, including COA and CCL regulations.
Drive continuous improvement efforts and contribute to organization-wide quality initiatives.
Represent CRH in community partnerships, networks, and collaborative initiatives.
Foster and maintain positive relationships with referral sources, contract monitors, and regulatory agencies.
Identify and implement new opportunities to expand and strengthen CRH’s continuum of care.
