About The Position

Clinical Leadership & Standards Serve as the clinical leader of the hospital, setting and reinforcing: Standards of care Patient safety expectations Medical decision-making frameworks Guide clinical direction without needing to be the expert in every discipline Identify gaps in clinical capability and proactively source: Training CE opportunities Mentorship and development resource DVM Coaching, Development & Performance Maintain a strong, visible coaching presence with the DVM team Provide: Ongoing clinical guidance Constructive feedback Supportive course correction when needed Comfortable addressing: Clinical performance concerns Professionalism and conduct issues Place special emphasis on: Mentoring and teaching new graduate DVMs Supporting long-term clinical growth and confidence Monthly DVM Meetings Lead monthly DVM meetings focused on: Key clinical issues and trends Case review and shared learning Adverse event learning (as appropriate) Clinical development priorities Foster a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Adverse Event Oversight Partner closely with the Hospital Adminstrator and Managers to: Oversee the clinical aspects of adverse event response Support DVMs through review, learning, and improvement Ensure appropriate documentation and escalation Balance learning, accountability, and team trust Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate closely with: Hospital Administrator Hospital Managers Regional Operations and Medical Leadership Align clinical decisions with: Staffing capacity Hospital throughput and flow Long-term operational sustainability Act as a clinical thought partner and leader within the hospital

Requirements

  • Meaningful, hands-on experience in both General Practice and Emergency medicine
  • Must have actively practiced in both environments
  • Strong understanding of workflow, pacing, and decision-making differences
  • Demonstrated passion for DVM coaching, mentorship, and development
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-acuity, 24/7 environment
  • Strong professional judgment and the ability to influence peers
  • Comfortable providing clear performance feedback and navigating difficult conversations when needed

  • Experience supporting new graduate DVMs strongly preferred

Responsibilities
