Documents in the medical record using the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ standardized language as part of the Nutrition Care Process. Performing nutrition assessments and identifying nutrition diagnoses; recommending and implementing nutrition care plans based on evidence-based practice. Identifies appropriate nutrition diagnosis and malnutrition criteria. Identifies age-specific physical, psychosocial and cultural needs when carrying out patient activities. Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team to promote wellness, maintenance of current health, and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. Communicates the nutrition plan with the interdisciplinary team. Providing education at the appropriate level/learning mode for the patient/family and documenting a learning assessment and an assessment of patient’s readiness to learn, teaching methods, and response to the information provided. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of food science, biochemistry, physiology, management science, behavioral science and social science as applied to human nutrition is required.
  • Must be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed as a Dietitian-Nutritionist (LDN) in Maryland.
  • Entry-level will be considered.
