About The Position
Provides nutritional care services to cancer patients in the Halvorson Cancer Center by assessing nutritional needs in relation to their age, developing and implementing nutritional care plans, evaluating and reporting these results appropriately. Through nutritional counseling, provides persons with the ability to self-manage their own nutritional care based on the needs and behaviors specific to their age, diagnosis and health status.
Requirements
- Certified as a Registered Dietitian in the State of Washington
- Bachelor’s degree, with a major in dietetics, foods and nutrition
- 1 year of experience in clinical dietetics
- Knowledge of the nutritional developmental and behavioral needs of patients of all ages.
- Registered member of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS – American Heart Association by start date

Responsibilities
- Manages the nutrition monitoring, support and education of all Halvorson Cancer Center patient populations. Provides education to patients, families, staff, students, and the community at large.
- Manages all medical nutrition therapy and nutrition support practices; including the coordination of enteral and parenteral feeding practices for the head/neck, lung and gastrointestinal cancer patients.
- Reviews medical orders for modified diets prescribed by medical staff for patients with therapeutic diet needs.
- Evaluates nutritional care making recommendations and appropriate changes based on age specific growth and development needs of each patient.
- Counsels individuals and families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, good selection and economics, adapting plans to the individual’s life style, age and development needs. Advises on types of foods and methods of preparation for therapeutic diets.
- Participates in clinic team rounds, case conferences, and patient care meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
