Responsibilities Assists in the design and development of biomedical-related engineering systems; possesses knowledge of tools, design techniques and underlying theory relevant to their discipline; Demonstrates good written and verbal skills; regularly summarizes and communicates the results of work efforts to project team members and management in a clear, concise and timely manner; accomplishes assigned tasks and manages multiple priorities. Understands relevant components of the Division's quality management system and participates in safety risk management activities. Is a self-starter who excels in a multi-disciplinary development environment. Communicates effectively in writing and conversation. Skillsets in medical imaging software, CAD, 3D printing, and strong communication to collaborate with medical professionals, as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements like FDA guidelines. Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams to design and develop anatomical models and surgical guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in engineering (e.g., biomedical, industrial) or related field.
  • Master's degree is preferred.

  • Proficiency with medical imaging software and 3D modeling (CAD).
  • Experience with 3D printing technologies and materials.
  • Understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with FDA-compliant quality management techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Convert medical imaging data (CT, MRI) into 3D models.
  • Design and develop patient-matched anatomical models and surgical guides.
  • Perform 3D printing and post-processing of the models.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, engineers, and other medical professionals.
  • Ensure models meet quality management and safety risk management requirements.
  • Document and communicate results to project teams and management.
  • Have education and exposure to FDA compliant quality management techniques
  • Possess a high level of communication skills and can collaborate with other medical professionals including engineers, radiologists, surgeons, medical specialists, qualified healthcare professionals (QHCPs, e.g. nurse practitioners and physician's assistants), radiology technologists, and healthcare technology management technicians
  • Flexible and innovative, working through design iterations to meet the needs of the provider, and can efficiently and effectively solve problems in real time
