We are searching for the best talent for Clinical Data Analytics & AI Intern to be in Cincinnati, Ohio, US/ remote. The Intern term is from June to August, 2026. Full time requirement (40 hours per week). Purpose: We are seeking a curious, technically skilled, and analytically minded intern to help advance our next generation of clinical data review tools. This remote internship position blends programming, clinical data analytics, and AI-powered workflow innovation to enhance data quality, standardization, and efficiency across JNJ MedTech Surgery clinical trials. Your work will help ensure higher data integrity in clinical trials, ultimately supporting better patient outcomes and advancing surgical innovation at JNJ MedTech Surgery. You will contribute directly to the evolution of the EDISONS Data Review Dashboard - our cloud-based platform supporting streamlined clinical data review. This role offers hands-on exposure to real clinical trial data, data validation methodologies, and emerging generative AI applications within data management. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in biomedical data, analytics, AI, and R-based product development.

Requirements

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an aptitude for quickly understanding new concepts and technologies.
  • Experience or coursework in programming (preferably R, Python, or similar languages) and familiarity with data visualization tools or dashboard development.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and principles of data quality management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, including data managers, engineers, and clinical partners.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on producing accurate documentation and thorough testing.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to contribute to innovative data analytics solutions.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future.
  • Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new features within our RShiny-based EDISONS Data Review Dashboard.
  • Implementing standardized functions and reusable components, while also contributing to documentation efforts.
  • Work on automated data review processes, such as implementing algorithms for detecting outliers, missing data checks, flagging data issues, and building automated checks to compare datasets.
  • Help enhance the dashboard with AI-powered data review tools like the Query Refiner for improved data queries, Protocol Deviation Classifier for automated review, Data Radar tools for comprehensive issue scanning, and Data Chat for interactive data exploration.
  • Draft and execute test scripts, prepare guides and requirement documents, and work closely with data managers, clinical partners, and developers to ensure that the features are practical and effective.
  • Gain valuable exposure to clinical data flows, MedTech trial processes, and Electronic Data Capture systems such as RAVE.
  • Develop hands-on experience applying AI and data analytics concepts to real-world data review challenges and participate in designing scalable analytics tools utilized by clinical data managers around the globe.
  • Contribute to meaningful improvements that directly enhance data quality and operational efficiency, while providing opportunities to collaborate with professionals across various disciplines and build expertise in biomedical data, analytics, and R-based product development.
