The Stroke Program Clinical Coordinator collaborates with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals to plan, deliver, and evaluate care within the University of Iowa Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC). The Clinical Coordinator provides leadership for nursing personnel in delivering specialized care to the cerebrovascular patient population, as well as facilitating treatment plans across the continuum of care. This position provides expertise in neuroscience nursing to lead initiatives that improve nursing quality and related services. This includes leading or participating in evidence-based projects within the CSC and partnering with Clinical Practice Leaders or Nurse Practice Leaders to implement practice changes. Responsibilities also include providing specialized health education to patients and health profession students and residents applicable to patients with cerebrovascular disease. This requires communicating detailed, complex medical information to a variety of audiences. The Clinical Coordinator receives direction from the senior Clinical Practice Leader in the Comprehensive Stroke Center, as well as the Comprehensive Stroke Center Director.
