About The Position

Position Overview: Under the direction of the Regional Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing, the Clinical Competency Coordinator supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by overseeing clinical competencies and assisting with clinic operations. This role serves as a liaison between nursing leadership and clinic staff, helping to plan, implement, and maintain clinical training and competency standards across the organization. The Coordinator maintains expertise in clinical procedures, terminology, and surgical instruments while providing direct patient care and performing technical laboratory tasks in accordance with organizational policies. This position aligns with Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Meaningful Use (MU) guidelines, utilizing evidence-based practices and certified EHR systems to support patient care and population health management. What You Will Do: Support overall clinical operations in collaboration with nursing leadership and clinic management by implementing organizational policies and procedures. Maintain and uphold departmental standards related to quality assurance, safety, environmental practices, and infection control. Conduct initial, annual, and ongoing competency assessments for clinical staff. Coordinate and assist with monthly staff meetings, ensuring effective communication and proper documentation of updates and initiatives. Promote high-quality patient care by adhering to established protocols, standing orders, and clinical guidelines. Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to accurately collect and document patient information, including vital signs and clinical history. Maintain accurate reporting and inventory within the New Mexico State Immunization Information System (NMSIIS), including transfers and required submissions. Train and orient new staff, providing guidance on daily workflows and ensuring adherence to organizational standards. Assist with laboratory functions as needed, following CLIA guidelines and organizational policies. Travel to various clinic locations as required to support operational needs. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of experience in the healthcare field, preferably in a clinical setting.
  • Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of supervisory experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
