General Summary The Clinical Certification Instructor provides course curriculum designed by the American Heart Association to Phelps Health employees and community organizations as required and/or requested; also responsible for organizing and providing new instructor training and/or mentoring. Additionally, the Clinical Certification Instructor will facilitate the organization’s workplace violence training program education and any additional education as determined by the department director

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic education program or graduate of an accredited nursing school is required.. If a nurse, a general knowledge of nursing principles and practices as normally acquired through completion of an Associates degree in Nursing.
  • Current Paramedic, RN or Compact Licensure in the state of Missouri is required.
  • Must be current in BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS and CEVO (CEVO only required for Paramedic).
  • Must obtain instructor status for each discipline in which the instructor is responsible for teaching, within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience.
  • At least one year adult teaching experience in the area of health education required.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge/experience with Microsoft office products.
  • Must have organization & critical thinking skills; strong communication skills desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and Facilitate classes for employees and members of the community to include: American Heart Association classes to include, PALS, ACLS, BLS, Heartsaver, PHTLS through the NAEMT, Workplace violence training program, CEVO Emergency Vehicle Training Course (if Paramedic), and any additional certification courses that fall within the scope as determined by the organization and the department director.
  • Complete all required documentation for the training center coordinator, the American Heart Association, the workplace violence training program, NAEMT, and any additional relevant entities.
  • Fulfill all training center responsibilities in accordance with established guidelines as determined by the department director, training center coordinator, and specific training entities.
  • Maintain regular communication with the training site coordinator, department director, and fellow instructors to facilitate class presentations.
  • Maintain current instructor status and participate in ongoing updates.
  • Ensure the adequate maintenance and verification of equipment, including cleaning after each use, in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association and Phelps Health infection prevention policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the department director
