About The Position

The part-time faculty member will teach within the athletic training program and contribute to its overall success by supporting the department’s mission and to grow the accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (AT) Program. Responsibilities include engaging in teaching, scholarship, and service in alignment with the University’s mission and strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science, rehabilitation science, or related field.
  • Eligible for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in Kansas.
  • Certification and in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC).
  • Previous clinical practice in athletic training.

  • Experience with athletic training clinical education and teaching students at the master’s level.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain contemporary expertise in assigned teaching areas.
  • Develop, revise, and teach courses in the athletic training program that align with accreditation standards, reflect changes in the profession, and incorporate various perspectives.
  • Foster advanced and innovative teaching methods (e.g., team teaching, interprofessional education); coaching and mentoring students.
  • Participate in scholarly activity within contemporary expertise.
  • Provide service responsibilities as assigned within the School of Health Professions (SHP) and University committees; promote the SHP and KUMC mission and vision.
  • Participate in professional local/state/and national committees and/or elected positions.
  • Engage in interprofessional teaching, research, and service within the department, school, university, and community.
  • Assist the Program Director and AT faculty in maintaining accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and remaining complaint with the CAATE Standards for Professional Education.
  • Actively participate in recruiting, admitting, advising and mentoring students.
  • Participate in clinical practice as warranted.
