About The Position

The School of Public and Allied Health at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor / Lecturer II position in the Division of Public Health. This position focuses on excellence in teaching and coordination of the undergraduate Public Health Internship Program. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction, oversee experiential learning placements, and support students' professional and academic development in alignment with program goals and accreditation standards. The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree, Master's degree in Public Health (MPH) or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated record of effective teaching or relevant instructional experience at the undergraduate level.
  • Experience in coordinating internships, field education, or experiential learning programs.
  • Strong commitment to creating a welcoming environment and supporting all students' success.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students from various academic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with experiential learning models and applied public health education.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D., DrPH, or equivalent) in Public Health or a related field.
  • Experience with CEPH accreditation processes and curriculum alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with public health agencies and community organizations.
  • Experience with academic advising and student mentorship.
  • Proficiency in online teaching platforms and instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard).

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Public Health and related areas.
  • Develop and update course syllabi and instructional materials to align with program learning outcomes and CEPH guidelines.
  • Deliver engaging instruction in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Utilize innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the Public Health Internship Program, including student placement, site coordination, and supervision.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners, health organizations, and agencies to ensure quality internship opportunities.
  • Develop internship policies and ensure compliance with university and accreditation standards.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and evaluations for students and preceptors.
  • Advise and mentor students in academic planning, career development, and professional skills.
  • Participate in program assessment, curriculum development, and accreditation activities.
  • Contribute to departmental, school, and university service as assigned.
  • Engage in outreach activities that strengthen community partnerships and support student success.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
