About The Position

This is a Family Medicine faculty position. This faculty member will provide individual, group and family counseling, primarily in the outpatient setting, and will teach students and residents the theory and practice of behavioral medicine in didactic and clinical settings. Will provide mentorship to students and residents. Will provide participant observation feedback to residents.

Requirements

  • Education: Doctorate degree in Psychology. Degree should be from an APA-approved clinical program, or in Family Therapy.
  • License: Must be licensed/eligible to practice as an independent practitioner in their discipline in the State of Kansas.
  • Work Experience: Experience within family medicine and the application of behavioral science principles, family systems, and the biopsychosocial model.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches residents in family medicine and medical students the basic principles of behavioral science, the biopsychosocial model, family systems, and the provision of psychosocial care in both the didactic and clinical setting.
  • Provides individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy with patients and families at the family medicine clinic.
  • Provides joint supervisions (precepting) of family medicine residents and students in the family medicine ambulatory clinical setting.
  • Works collaboratively with other behavioral science faculty, and with the Residency Director, in enhancing the family medicine residency.
