About The Position

The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington School of Medicine, in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital is seeking candidates for a full-time position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor to serve in the role of pulmonary hospitalist within the Division. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34 . This position follows a 12 month service period (July 1–June 30) with eligibility for annual reappointment. Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, and Clinical Professors hold appointments on this same 12 month cycle. Faculty in 12 month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over the 12 month year, providing the equivalent of one month of paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at the University of Washington are commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The anticipated start date is Summer 2026. Responsibilities of the pulmonary hospitalist will include 16-20 weeks of inpatient service on the Primary Pulmonary Team as well as active participation in Division and Departmental activities. The candidate will join two current pulmonary hospitalists within the Division. Opportunities to participate in scholarship, advocacy or medical education are available to interested candidates. The base salary range for this position will be: Clinical Assistant Professors MD $13,641 - $20,461 per month ($163,692 - $245,532 annually), Clinical Associate Professors MD $16,487 - $24,730 per month ($197,844 - $296,760 annually), Clinical Professors MD $19,820 - $29,729 per month ($237,840 - $356,748 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS). Rank is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Medical licensure in the state of Washington
  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Pediatrics (or foreign equivalent)
  • Completion of a US accredited pediatric residency program by the start date of employment
  • Graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
