About The Position

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Registered Nurse to join our team in the Women's Center! This Nurse evaluates OB GYN patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists midwives and physicians during examinations and procedures. Provides comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to patients and babies during antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods. Is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the OB GYN field. Collaborates with providers to create plans for patient care. As patients' conditions change, RN alerts provider(s). OBGYN nurses prepare patients for procedures and exams, interpret test results, answer questions, administer treatments, monitor reactions and progress, give medications, provide education and communicate patient concerns with midwives and doctors. Requires an associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse. This position is Part-Time. Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Per Diem needs. An offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data. An offer of employment may be outside of the posted range based on those factors.

Requirements

  • Education: Required - Associates Degree or equivalent certification. Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Required - Minimum of one year OB/GYN RN experience.
  • Licensure and certification: Current VT Registered Nurse license. BLS.

  • Special patient care skills such as lactation (breastfeeding) education, nutrition, women's health, ante-, intra- and postpartum health.

Responsibilities

  • Incorporates appropriate assessment and intervention skills in all interactions and delivery of nursing care: medical asepsis, physical assessment, monitoring, pain management, reports, therapeutic interventions, medication administration, IV lines management, evaluation & revisions of plan of care, procedures, & medical technology.
  • Assists the MD's or Midwives with patient procedures.
  • Interfaces with hospital ancillary services and departments including Birthing Center, OR, ER, etc., to ensure appropriate patient care.
  • Coordinates care within the multidiciplinary team, interacts in a professional manner, communicates directly, verbalizes scope of practice for self and others.
  • Collects and integrates data from multiple sources, seeks assistance and/or information appropriately.
  • Develops and maintains human care relationships & integrates the influence of the human experience of health, illness &/or healing. Adapts care for diverse populations, assists colleagues with care delivery, refers all concerns/issues to appropriate resource.
  • Demonstrates the unit specific skills requisite for assigned service area.
  • Integrates various aspects of specific knowledge for the patient populations served within unit area of hire: applies knowledge of expected norms in planning interventions. Demonstrates integration of knowledge, skills, and abilities for the patient populations served in unit of care.
  • Incorporates teaching in delivery of care and demonstrates competence in health promotion & disease prevention. Provides information to patient family appropriately, assesses for barriers to learning, uses colleagues as a learning resource.
  • Manages self and resources effectively. Organizes multitask workload, accepts changes in assignment, utilizes supplies appropriately, requests assistance appropriately.

Identifies & applies age specific safety needs when performing job duties in the following circumstances: disaster/evacuation, transfer of patients, minimizing security risks, restraints/immobilization devices, use of equipment.
