About The Position

JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for providing nursing care to the patient under the direction of a physician or physician extender.

Requirements

  • Current licensure, valid in Tennessee
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 12 months of professional clinical experience preferred
  • Ability to take vital signs
  • Ability to perform and read urine test trips
  • Ability to interpret lab results to report to physician
  • Ability to use various type of equipment for examination and treatment procedures
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to identify problem and recommend solutions
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic
  • Basic computer skills
  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop and stretch
  • Have full range of body motion
  • Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculation
  • Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriately
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds
  • Occasionally relocate to other jobs or office locations

  • Ability to apply practice guidelines and protocols
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers and public
  • Performs selected clinical and administrative duties, and assists physicians and providers as part of the clinical care team.
  • Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent medications changes and/or test results.
  • Reviews and reports lab results to physician for guidance.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and obtaining urinalysis and vital signs. Documents all information into EMR.
  • Conducts and documents monthly chronic care management encounters for enrolled patients.
  • Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
  • Performs phlebotomy and administers injections; processes and prepares labs for pickup; assists with EKG’s, office procedures as needed; and provides other patient care services as directed by the physicians and practice protocols.
  • Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
  • Executes and documents any orders from physicians or physician extenders under supervision of the Registered Nurse.
  • Assists with scheduling tests and treatments as needed.
  • Performs triage for patient calls for urgent appointments or interventions under direct supervision of the Registered Nurse and Physician.
  • Provides patient health counseling, education and instruction.
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Maintain a current and valid driver’s license and auto insurance
