About The Position

The Clinic Coordinator directly supports the work of the dental students as they progress towards completion of their clinical requirements. This position serves as the communication link between student providers, patients, supervising faculty and FQHC Clinical Program Liaison. They offer administrative and procedural support to the students throughout their three years in the clinic and are dedicated to helping them graduate. This position reports to the PNWU SDM Clinic Director at the assigned student clinic.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1-3 years
  • Skill in effective communication (both written and oral)
  • Skill in independent decision making
  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Skill in problem solving
  • Knowledge of dental clinic administrative procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of computer and different computer programs, including an electronic health record
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and Infection Control policies and protocols
  • Ability to accurately gather data and compile reports essential to student success
  • Ability to ensure the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of sensitive [student, employee, financial, business, etc.] information by exercising sound judgment and adhering to cybersecurity and privacy policies during employment and beyond.

  • Dental Assisting certificate or Dental Hygiene degree

Responsibilities

  • Assist with management of the dental clinic, including planning, organizing, and coordinating the day-to-day operations of a dental clinic in collaboration with the FQHC Dental Supervisor to ensure standardization of dental policies/processes, supplies, and equipment for consistency in operations.
  • Support activities in the simulation lab at the clinic.
  • Assist students with chart audits of their patient portfolio.
  • Participate in meetings and continuous quality improvement programs.
  • Daily review of the patient electronic health records and assist students with accuracy of notes and corresponding CDT coding.
  • Maintains current appointments for all patients assigned to the student clinic as well as helping students maintain an active patient portfolio.
  • Participates in dental data analysis for trending and recommendations, and utilizes information to provide reports of students’ progress through their clinical education to the appropriate individuals using the electronic dental record and Acuity Insights platforms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned and based on need.
