About The Position

The Coordinator is responsible for demonstrating and maintaining a higher level of knowledge and expertise in relation to all areas of insurance plans and selection. They are to be an expert in verification of validity of effective insurance coverage, the necessity of authorization and obtaining benefits. They act as a front-line financial resource. The goal is to maximize the likelihood of submitting clean and payable claims while advocating on behalf of the patient. The Coordinator will accurately collect and analyze all required demographic, insurance, financial and clinical data elements necessary to register and book patient appointments under close supervision, support coordination of scheduling procedures, support clinic with maintaining and monitoring all surgery schedules to maximize block utilization. They will create a friendly, cooperative impression through all interactions with internal and external customers and works independently to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include insurance verification, insurance requirements and maintaining authorization approval. They will help patients navigate through their surgical checklist and insurance requirements ensuring success in the program. Patient interaction is an essential part of this position. They are knowledgeable of all private and government payers, including contract terms, hospital financial assistance and discount programs, and communications with Enloe’s Financial Team as necessary. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Interacts frequently with providers, clinical, clerical, and Patient Financial Services staff.

Requirements

  • Two years of medical billing, patient access, patient registration or clinic/hospital registration experience
  • Knowledge of ICD 9/10 Coding and CPT codes
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize Microsoft office software applications and healthcare A/D/T software applications.
  • Must have excellent telephone and interpersonal skills to maintain a high degree of rapport with physicians, managers, co-workers, employees, patients and the public.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to conduct an effective patient interview to determine financial ability and identify financial assistance options available to uninsured and/or under-insured patients.
  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of government and commercial insurance contracts and eligibility and assist with enrollment processes when applicable.
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to accurately estimate patient out of pocket amounts due at time of service.
  • Must comply with all state, federal and local regulatory requirements.
  • Must show sensitivity for the patient and family and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with staff, patients, patient’s family members and visitors in accordance with the medical center’s core values and code of conduct.
  • Must represent Enloe Health in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow instructions, and work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize assignments.
  • Must demonstrate reliability and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of Financial Counseling experience in a hospital or physician office setting
  • One year of pre-registration and/or insurance verification experience in a hospital or physician setting
