About The Position

The Climate Program Manager will provide technical expertise and support for the City of El Paso's climate and sustainability programs, projects, and policy issues. This role involves implementing the City's Climate Action Plan, developing sustainability strategies, and ensuring alignment with regional initiatives. The manager will also engage with community members and stakeholders to promote sustainability efforts and educate the public on climate change initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Planning, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Three (3) years of work experience in planning, environmental services, energy, climate change, or a related field.
• Valid Texas Class 'C' Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the City's Climate Action Plan.
• Participate in the development and coordination of local sustainability strategies.
• Develop mechanisms to ensure full engagement in sustainability strategy implementation.
• Monitor and track progress in achieving climate change and sustainability strategies.
• Provide recommendations for policy and program improvements.
• Act as a technical resource for city staff on climate and sustainability-related topics.
• Research and complete grant applications for climate action project funding.
• Develop and coordinate partnerships with government, non-profit, and community groups.
• Plan and organize community events and educational programs related to sustainability.
• Develop staff reports and presentations regarding findings and program accomplishments.
• Attend meetings and represent the City on sustainable and environmental interests.
