About The Position

Elena’s Way, a Preble Street Wellness Shelter, provides shelter and intensive support services to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs, in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work and medical best practices. A Client Support Staff position with a full-time, 3rd shift schedule is currently available in this service-inclusive, client-centered shelter program. As part of the team providing comprehensive services to individuals accessing the Wellness Shelter, Elena’s Way Client Support Staff outreach and engage with clients, provide direct services and program coverage, maintain safety in program spaces, provide crisis intervention and support, and assist in case management activities. The schedule for this full-time (40 hours/week), awake 3rd shift position is Wednesday-Saturday, 10:30pm-8:30am.

Requirements

  • education in social work or related field of study and experience in direct service provision to people experiencing homelessness, or a combination of work experience, education, and/or training likely to provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the work of the Client Support Staff
  • understanding of and alignment with Preble Street’s mission
  • positive regard for individuals accessing services for homelessness and poverty
  • commitment to providing low-barrier services
  • strong communication, de-escalation, and crisis intervention skills
  • familiarity with community resources
  • ability to engage with and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations
  • ability to work as part of a collaborative team
  • Client Support Staff are required to remain awake for the duration of shifts and to work during evening, overnight, and weekend hours, with regular and consistent attendance
