About The Position

The Client Service Manager at Marsh is responsible for managing a portfolio of captive insurance company clients, overseeing their day-to-day activities. This includes preparing accurate and timely financial statements, reconciling accounts, and managing cash transactions. The role requires the ability to handle complex clients through the full cycle of life accounting and familiarity with international clients' unique rules and regulations. The manager will assist clients proactively, plan and complete annual audits, prepare regulatory filings and GAAP financial statements, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory processes. Proactive communication with clients on trending regulatory issues and maintaining client files are also key. The position involves monitoring team and client activities, corresponding with other service providers, and reviewing their reports. Additionally, the Client Service Manager is expected to coach, mentor, and review the work of junior colleagues, participate in global projects to develop best practices, and lead board and committee meetings. Requirements

  • Ability to manage complex clients in full cycle life accounting.
  • Familiar with international clients' unique rules and regulations.
  • Knowledgeable or highly knowledgeable in GAAP and can speak to and guide clients in evaluating and implementing new principles.
  • Clear communication and relationship building skills and can troubleshoot most client relationship scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of insurance, insurance policies and insurance accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a portfolio of clients and managing the day to day activities of those captive insurance companies.
  • Prepare financial statements in an accurate and timely manner, including supplemental financial information required by the client.
  • Reconciles cash and investment accounts.
  • Prepares bank deposits and cash disbursements.
  • Assists clients in the full day to day activities and requests independently and pro-actively.
  • Plans and completes the annual audit for clients, which can include preparation of regulatory filings and GAAP financial statements.
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance processes and procedures are followed for local accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proactively has conversations with clients on any trending regulatory issues or changes.
  • Maintains client files in accordance with regulations and best practices.
  • Monitors and documents team and client activities to prevent and detect problems.
  • Corresponds with other service providers.
  • Reviewing, analyzing and discuss any reports provided by the service providers (eg. actuaries, auditors, claims handlers, etc).
  • Coach, mentor and assist junior or new colleagues in their roles.
  • Reviews junior colleague work before being sent to clients or other stakeholders.
  • Participates in ongoing global projects such as developing best practices or new policy.
  • Organizes, plans and leads board and committee meeting materials and be active participant in the annual board of directors' meeting and other client meetings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Complies with Marsh internal controls and any client specific internal controls.
  • Helps establish and implement standardized financial activities and procedures to improve efficiency.
