The Client Development Specialist (Litigation) is a professional who possesses a client-focused mentality, is highly service oriented, and has the ability to support and guide lawyers in a sophisticated marketing and business development environment. Responsibilities include supporting client relationship-building initiatives; facilitating cross-selling opportunities with other practice groups and geographies; helping the team at large with daily pitch requests, research, directory submissions and event guidance.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of progressive experience in a practice management, business development or marketing role, ideally in an AmLaw 100 or other large professional services firm.
  • Minimum BA, BS or equivalent.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management, process implementation, and data skills.
  • Able to interact in a highly professional manner with partners, clients, colleagues and service providers.
  • Superior communication skills, including strong writing and editorial skills, with particular attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and ability to work with a wide variety of people and projects in a collective and collaborative manner.
  • Collaborative team player used to operating in a matrix environment.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting litigation practices is preferred.
  • Experience with Foundation, Dynamics, or other CRM databases a plus.
  • Travel as required for client meetings, industry events, and cross-office collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic, industry-aligned content for pitches, RFPs, and other marketing collateral supporting litigation opportunities and client meetings.
  • Ensure practice group and industry descriptions, web content, representative matters, case studies, and trial summaries are compelling, accurate, and up-to-date.
  • Support planning and execution of litigation-focused client events, sponsorships, industry conferences, and roundtables by assisting attorneys with identifying strategic engagement opportunities, coordinating logistics, tracking participation, and conducting post-event research.
  • Conduct in-depth research and competitive analysis across litigation-driven sectors and client segments to provide strategic insights that strengthen business development initiatives and enhance industry immersion efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze activity across key litigation clients and prospects.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives and recommend strategies to enhance engagement, cross-selling, and institutional client relationships.
  • Manage contacts and mailing lists in Microsoft Dynamics, leveraging the firm’s CRM tools to prepare relationship-mapping reports and identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and cultivate prospective ones.
  • Work with the firm’s Awards & Rankings team to create targeted, strategic submissions for litigation practice areas and attorney rankings, including Chambers, Legal 500, and other industry- and litigation-specific recognitions.
  • Support thought leadership campaigns focused on litigation trends and industry developments, including project management and mining campaign data for business development opportunities.
