About The Position

Be part of a rapidly growing CPA firm with great opportunities for growth, autonomy, and flexibility. The Client Controller will be responsible for overseeing the full scope of accounting services for clients based in Puerto Rico. This role is client-facing and will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, lead a team of accounting professionals, and act as the key liaison between clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of accounting processes to deliver exceptional service and results. This position reports in-person to our San Juan, Puerto Rico office on Mondays and Tuesdays each week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience,
  • Strong experience in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and team management.
  • Bilingual: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero preferred).
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple client needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Puerto Rico’s financial regulations and business environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client accounting matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through timely communication and problem-solving.
  • Manage and supervise day-to-day bookkeeping activities including AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee the accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, assigning tasks and conducting performance reviews.
  • Review and finalize financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) for clients.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support client decision-making.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and document SOPs for key accounting tasks.
  • Support clients in audit preparation and work directly with auditors as needed.
  • Utilize tools such as QuickBooks and Xero to manage workflows and drive efficiencies.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve accounting operations.
