About The Position

PHFE WIC, a program of Heluna Health, employs staff who assist with providing healthy food, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and family resources to women, infants and children in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Under the guidance of Federal, State, Heluna Health and Public Health Foundation Enterprises WIC (PHFE WIC) policies, this role supports WIC Center operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or (GED) required
  • Minimum of one-year of continuous experience in a customer service role
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Basic arithmetic skills required.
  • Ability to follow instructions, solve problems, handle changes, and manage unexpected events.
  • Good listening and comprehension skills.
  • Timely response to communication requests and information sharing.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow PHFE WIC policies and values.
  • Proficiency in using PHFE WIC internal applications and other relevant software.
  • Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Handle job demands, including unresolved situations, frequent changes, and unexpected events.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Must be able to secure transportation as needed for job duties, including travel to other WIC Centers, training, and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient WIC Center operations by completing all assigned tasks efficiently, including guest greetings, WIC screening, enrollment and document collection.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients, staff, and visitors, addressing their needs promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct effective breastfeeding and nutrition education sessions for individuals and groups, ensuring they understand and utilize the information provided.
  • Issue WIC cards
  • Provide WIC Program Information
  • Schedule appointments
  • Perform office duties and conduct outreach
  • Serve applicants and participants using current computer applications.
  • Complete tasks directed by the Supervisor.
  • Keep the WIC Center clean, safe and clutter free, ensuring a welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Maintain a daily productivity log.
