About The Position

Under general supervision, supervises front desk and administrative operations; performs clerical functions in a clinical setting; addresses students on the phone and in person; determines the urgency of their needs, alerting appropriate staff as needed; schedules appointments within the electronic health record (EHR) system; provides administrative support to the Patient Accounts Representative by assisting with patient account inquiries and routine billing- related operations; hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates Clerk III and student staff; and manages incoming documentation to facilitate the Student Health Clinic and Psychiatric & Counseling Services and support the delivery of care provided by staff.

Requirements

  • Any combination of progressively responsible related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to four years of full-time employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CPB (Certified Professional Biller), or equivalent
  • at least one (1) year of experience in medical billing and/or coding in a clinical or healthcare setting
  • working knowledge of medical billing processes, including insurance claims submission and follow-up
  • basic understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding principles
  • experience with hospital operations and/or Ambulatory Clinic operations
  • experience with electronic medical record software
  • experience with patient scheduling in an outpatient clinic setting
  • prior supervisory experience preferred
