About The Position

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Prison in Chaparral, New Mexico. MTC provides a safe and secure working environment for staff while helping those in custody prepare for success upon release. The Intake Clerk performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in compliance with MTC and customer directives, reporting to the intake sergeant.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
• Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year word processing or computer data entry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Types reports.
• Proofread material to verify accuracy.
• Maintain appropriate office supplies.
• Assist the inmate sergeant with inmate records; maintain documentation and records.
• Operate office equipment such as copy machines, desk top computers and printers.
• Operate center telephone communications and mail handling as assigned.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.
