Join our dynamic team in the Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care! We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Clerk III to be the face of our clinical operations. In this high-energy, fast-paced role, you will be the vital first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional reception services, managing seamless check-in/out processes, and expertly coordinating clinic appointments. This position is located on our Medical Center University Campus. Requirements

  • Any combination of related clerical office experience.
  • Related undergraduate education and or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previously worked in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the EPIC software system.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment and manage high-volume public contact effectively.
  • Insurance knowledge in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in utilizing computer software packages and online systems.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients, families, visitors, vendors, and the public.
  • Schedule outpatient appointments which may require coordination with other departments.
  • Complete check-in processes and scheduling follow-up appointments.
  • Answer multi-line, incoming phone calls and resolve our triage requests.
  • Process and manage incoming occupational and physical therapy referrals and appointment requests.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, visitors, vendors, and other care providers.
  • Use of computers, electronic medical records system (EPIC), and a variety of software.
  • Maintains appropriate files.
  • Integrates information and may run routine queries to generate or produce reports.
  • Initiates and processes standardized forms related to area of assignment.
  • May also receive direction from the Administration Services Coordinator and the Clinical Services Specialist while executing duties.
