About The Position

Grand Canyon University is seeking a Cleaner/Maintenance Crew Member to perform janitorial duties and preventive, routine, and small-effort general maintenance in campus housing facilities. This role typically involves providing services to a specific building but may be assigned to other buildings as needed. The position requires providing a high level of customer service to students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities include janitorial duties in common areas, assessing and reporting issues related to HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing, and performing various repairs such as replacing air filters, light bulbs, and door hardware. The crew member will also assist in projects involving floor covering repair or replacement, patch and paint surfaces, assess damages, respond to emergency needs, complete work orders, and maintain logs and reports. Adherence to safety and security procedures is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background investigation.
  • Employment is contingent upon the satisfactory outcome (as determined by the university) of pre-employment screening activities, including a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Some trade school/training is preferred.
  • Experience in janitorial/maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service to students and/or faculty and staff.
  • Responsible for janitorial duties in common areas such as: lobbies, elevators, lounges, study rooms, laundry rooms, and restrooms.
  • Assess and report issues related to HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.
  • Repair or replace air filters, light bulbs, wall plates, light switch plates, doors and related hardware, window screens, dressers, trim and cove base, toilet stopper, toilet chain, sink pop up’s and garbage disposals.
  • Assist in projects involving the repair or replacement of floor coverings including tile, luxury vinyl planks, laminate, and carpeting.
  • Patch, paint and/or finish various types of hard surfaces.
  • Assess any damages to building, furnishings and/or rooms and identifies type of repair work needed.
  • Respond to emergency needs and requests within designated time frames.
  • Regularly complete work orders within Facilities Work Management System.
  • Assist in maintaining Logs and Maintenance reports.
  • Adhere to safety and security procedures and determines the appropriate action beyond guidelines and reports unsafe conditions to management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
