About The Position

The Clean Transportation Fellow works to support the growth of the Massachusetts clean energy industry and position the Commonwealth as a global leader in clean energy. The team is charged with accelerating emerging clean energy market transformation in order to help the Commonwealth meet its climate goals. MassCEC catalyzes market development through strategic pilot and demonstration grant programs, targeted analysis, stakeholder engagement, and by identifying and addressing market barriers. Pilot projects and demonstrations often inform development of broader market activation programs at MassCEC, across state government, and in the utility sector. MassCEC’s Clean Transportation programming also aims to increase access to clean transportation technology and decrease air quality burdens from the existing transportation system for underserved and overburdened communities across the Commonwealth. The Clean Transportation Fellow will assist the entire Clean Transportation Team, including the Program Administrators, Program Coordinator, Program Managers, and at times, the Program Director. The Fellow will contribute to team meetings; contribute to grant project management; conduct targeted market, policy and other relevant research; assist with event coordination; and may present results to the team and/or broader organization. The Fellow will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the clean energy and transportation industry, related regulatory structures and policy landscapes, write about and present research results, and network with clean energy industry stakeholders. The Fellow will benefit from a supportive work environment at MassCEC where collaboration is encouraged. The fellowship program at MassCEC includes various educational and networking opportunities, including: In depth overview presentations from division heads; Lunch-time Tech Talks and Brown Bag Presentations; Guided tour of the Wind Technology Testing Center; and Other industry related events.

Requirements

The candidate will be a college undergraduate (sophomore or higher) or graduate student, preferably pursuing a degree in science, environmental science, business administration, public policy, or other related field. Recent graduates or candidates that are early in their career will also be considered.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of electric vehicles and electric vehicle supply equipment preferred
Experience with Excel and ArcGIS Pro preferred
Experience working with the public preferred
Experience or familiarity with marketing and communications

Responsibilities

Work as part of a team on clean transportation pilot and demonstration projects on a range of topics from both public and private fleet electrification to electric bikes. Tasks may include carrying out stakeholder outreach, grant project administration, taking meeting minutes, organizing events, analysis of best practices, research, data visualization, creating targeted reports, drafting memos and letters as well as working with others to create graphics and maps.
Participate (with supervisor), as needed, at meetings, roundtables, and conferences related to team initiatives.
Organize and update project timelines, webpages, and databases related to various Clean Transportation programs.
Support the team with outreach to environmental justice communities and other high-need populations impacted by the transportations sector.
Manage and respond to inbound program related email inquiries.
Assist team in organizing external events to promote clean energy, table and present during events when applicable.
Support team with program promotion through coordination with MarComms team, data organization, and creation of marketing materials.
Create and maintain slide decks for staff presentations (internal and external), websites for each of the programs, and program related blog posts.
Assist team with Public Records Requests.
Assist team with project grant management and administration.
Attend Clean Transportation program check-in meetings, take notes, and complete follow up tasks as necessary.
Gain experience and familiarity with clean energy sector growth and maturation lifecycle and related challenges.
