About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting and coaching classroom staff in implementing effective behavior management techniques with individuals and groups of children across the organization’s educational programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, or a related field;
  • Two years of experience working with children with challenging behaviors;
  • Four years of experience working directly with children in a group setting;
  • Experience developing and presenting workshops for adults;
  • Health screening and TB clearance, to be renewed every five years;
  • Proof of immunization for TDap, MMR, whooping cough, and yearly influenza (waiver may be accepted for influenza);
  • Successful background screening;
  • Completed mandated reporter certification training, to be renewed every two years;
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance;

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in ABA (applied behavior analysis) or related field (preferred);
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Providing proactive classroom management coaching to the teaching team;
  • Observing specific children with challenging behaviors and developing a plan for the teaching staff to provide individualized training on the behavior plan and participating in periodic evaluation and modification of the effectiveness of the behavior modification strategies;
  • Reviewing appropriate documentation and providing feedback as a member of the department management team;
  • Documenting and tracking services identified, delivered, and referred for enrolled children;
  • Collaborating services and case management with the Early Learning, School-age, Inclusion, and Family Engagement teams to address the needs of the children and teachers in the classroom and ensuring that all staff receive support and training for children with challenging behaviors and the children receive individualized behavior plans;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Working effectively with other team members;
  • Assisting managers, directors, vice president of educational programs, and the chief program officer as needed;
  • Reading and and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
  • Actively participating in agency training;
  • Abiding by all of Options for Learning’s policies and procedures;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
