The Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) office at California State University, San Bernardino provides academic support services designed to ensure equal access and inclusion for students with disabilities. The Class Aide Student Assistant plays a critical front-line role in this mission by supporting students approved for class aide accommodations and ensuring they can fully participate in the academic experience. Working under the lead work direction of the SSD Accommodations Coordinator team, Class Aides provide in-person classroom support that removes physical and logistical barriers to learning. Depending on the student’s needs, Class Aides may assist with in-person class activities, manage classroom technology to support remote participation, or facilitate communication between the student, instructor, and SSD. Regardless of the instructional format, Class Aides are required to perform their duties in person on campus. This position focuses exclusively on providing accommodation-related classroom support and serves as a direct extension of SSD’s commitment to access, equity, and inclusion. Class Aide Student Assistants gain valuable experience in professional communication, collaboration, and disability awareness while contributing to an inclusive academic environment that empowers all students to succeed.
