About The Position

Stepp’s Towing & Heavy Transport is seeking experienced Heavy Haul Transport Drivers to join their team. They are looking for Class A CDL drivers with a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, and excellent problem-solving abilities. This local/regional position involves hauling high, wide, and heavy loads using lowboy, Landoll, step-deck, flatbed trailers, and heavy-duty rollbacks. The company, a family-owned business since 1960, proudly serves the greater Tampa Bay and Orlando areas, specializing in light-, medium-, and heavy-duty towing, heavy transport, and auto salvage. Their team is committed to excellence, safety, and supporting the community. A sign-on bonus of $2,500 is offered for those hired by April 30, 2026. The role requires driving manual transmission trucks, and drivers must have their own set of tools once assigned to a truck.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL with at least 2 years of verifiable experience
  • Current DOT Medical Card
  • TWIC Card (required within 30 days of hire)
  • HAZMAT endorsement (required within 90 days of hire)
  • Registered in the DOT Clearinghouse
  • Clean driving record (required for at least the last 3 years)
  • MUST be able to pass a background check and drug test
  • Experience with heavy equipment hauling
  • MUST be able to drive manual transmission trucks
  • Own set of tools once assigned to a truck

Responsibilities

  • Maneuver tractor and trailers into loading/unloading positions, following signals from crew and ensuring safe positioning
  • Pull trailers configured with tow bars or goosenecks as needed
  • Load and unload trucks, operate special loading equipment, and assist others as required
  • Secure equipment for transport using ropes, chains, binders, etc.
  • Operate multi-axle trailers for heavy equipment transport
  • Use GPS mapping effectively
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Proactively build customer relationships and provide thoughtful solutions
  • Maintain a professional appearance and represent Stepp’s with pride
  • Strive for continuous improvement by embracing new tools and processes
  • Demonstrate respect toward co-workers and foster a positive team environment
