About The Position

Are you someone who takes pride in meaningful, mission-driven work and has experience working with claims? Oregon State Treasury is seeking a Claims Specialist to join our Unclaimed Property team. As a Claims Specialist, you'll be a part of a team that helps reconnect money and assets with their rightful owner. This role is a great fit for a seasoned claims professional who is detail-oriented, analytical, takes pride in public service, values professionalism, and is both collaborative and self-motivated.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two years experience coordinating or administering a program; OR
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Responsibilities

  • Administers complicated claims by analyzing claim evidence and documents to ensure all heirs are represented in escheat property claims.
  • Reviews and approves county tax foreclosure claims, virtual asset claims, bankruptcy, business dissolutions, debt reassignment, and other business-related claims.
  • Prepares settlement documents and approves disbursement of refunds.  Confirms all transfers of stock and mutual funds.
  • Performs quality assurance reviews of claims and supporting documentation.
  • Assis with monitoring claims and managing fraud risk.
  • Responds to written and oral inquiries for complex claims involving probate, heirship, virtual currency, assets reassignments or lost securities.
