Sompo is seeking a Summer 2026 Financial Lines Claims Intern in our New York, New York office. The Internship Program is a 10-week development initiative designed to provide professional growth with potential long-term opportunity for successful individuals interested in the insurance/reinsurance industry. As a Financial Lines Claims Intern, you will utilize your legal background to analyze corporate insurance coverage and liability and damages in complex high-profile litigation filed against D&Os (Directors and Officers) of public and private companies and financial institutions. You will learn about, among other things, securities litigation, derivative lawsuits, merger & acquisition litigation, and regulatory investigations brought by the SEC and the DOJ arising out of the management of Fortune 500 companies and shareholder and investor disputes including lawsuits alleging breach of fiduciary duty, self-dealing, and minority shareholder unfair treatment; and financial distress and bankruptcy litigation arising out of the management of private companies. What can I expect as an Intern? On the Job Learning Our interns are immersed in the day-to-day activities of their team, to keep the underwriting and global claims team current on loss trends and market intelligence and to ensure timely and accurate reporting of exposure to underwriting and management. As part of Sompo’s Financial Lines Claims Group, you will contribute to the success of the team by working closely with your colleagues and manager on various projects. Activities, Learning and Development Throughout the program, you'll have the opportunity to: hear from executive leaders; participate in structured engaging leadership learnings and networking events and activities with peers, members of Sompo’s executive team and outside brokerage firms; and prepare a presentation to their manager and mentor.
