About The Position

Claims Examiner Supervisor (37524) The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Disability Employment & Transitions Division, Disability Determination Services Bureau. Disability Determination Services (DDS) is a bureau within Disability Employment Transitions Division (DETD), governed by the Department and complies with the code of Federal Regulations Title II, Social Security Disability Insurance, and Supplemental Security Income programs, Title XVI of the Social Security Act (SSA) in making initial, subsequent appeal, and continuing disability review decisions. The bureau’s mission is to balance protecting the SSA trust funds with issuing correct disability decisions for Montanans with disabilities. This position supervises Disability Claims Examiners and Disability Claims Technicians that carry out the adjudicative and claims process for the Social Security Administration disability program to ensure the program operates within federal rules and regulations. Responsibilities include effective and proactive management of an adjudicative team, ability to use data and reporting tools effectively, documentation, and a high level of analytical capabilities and strategic planning. This position supervises approximately nine employees and reports to the Disability Determination Services Bureau Chief. Requirements

  • Interpret and apply government regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and support effective decision ‑ making.

  • Meet minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
