About The Position

Staples is seeking a Claims Associate to join their legal and risk team, working collaboratively with clients to provide practical solutions for business growth across multiple industries and jurisdictions. This role involves assessing risk, driving results, and mitigating problems. The Claims Associate will primarily focus on workers’ compensation claims but will also support other claim types as needed. Responsibilities include triaging new incidents, supporting claim investigations, and evaluating and resolving claims. The associate will also be responsible for safeguarding data integrity, assisting the claims and risk team with daily administrative tasks, and serving as the primary point of contact for injured associates, claimants, attorneys, and business partners. Success in this role is measured by cycle-time reduction, reserve accuracy, and overall claim cost containment. Requirements

  • 2+ years of combined relevant work experience, including internships, co-ops, part-time roles, or entry-level positions
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • 2+ years relevant work experience in workers’ compensation, auto liability, or general liability claim handling (carrier, TPA, or self-insured employer)
  • Completion of or progress toward professional designations (e.g., AIC, ARM, CPCU)
  • Experience using ODG guidelines for disability duration and reserve benchmarking
  • Proficiency in RMIS platforms
