About The Position

Independence Excavating is looking for an experienced, dedicated, and enthusiastic Construction professional to join our team. The Civil/Sitework Construction Estimator is responsible for estimating, proposal development, and assembling complete bid packages for assigned construction projects. What do we believe in? A typical project looks like: Reading, understanding, and interpreting drawings and specifications Soliciting quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, estimate to be 95% complete prior to formal review with Chief Estimator Preparing a rough project schedule for determining the time frame Preparing competitive job estimates by interpreting drawings and bid documents and performing takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials Reviewing estimated productions with superintendents to finalize the bid Other duties as assigned per project

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Undergraduate Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, and 5-yrs experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Experience in public and private civil construction projects, i.e. sitework, underground utilities, excavation/grading, retaining walls, and culverts. Experience in structural concrete, concrete paving, bridges, and piling is not required but encouraged.
  • A successful track record of estimating civil construction projects
  • Have a working knowledge of means and methods/constructability, crew composition, and production rates.
  • Clear understanding of risk management and mitigation
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software is preferred, but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in structural concrete, concrete paving, bridges, and piling is not required but encouraged.
  • Proficient in HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities
