Here is how the Civil Engineering Services Intern role will impact our business: The Civil Engineering Services team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support both engineering design and digital innovation initiatives across the SP&C Department. This role offers a unique blend of traditional civil engineering experience including site design, grading, and infrastructure planning-with exposure to the company's Digital Work Environment (DWE), data analytics, and insight creation efforts. The intern will gain hands-on experience using data-driven tools to enhance engineering decision-making, project efficiency, and performance tracking.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with interest in data-driven engineering applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or other design software.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in both technical and collaborative environments.
  • Eagerness to learn about digital systems, automation, and their role in modern civil engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of data visualization or analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Python preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in reviewing and developing civil design drawings, site plans, and grading models.
  • Support data collection, processing, and analysis to improve project tracking and field performance visibility.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards and visualizations that communicate key project insights.
  • Learn and apply the company's Digital Work Environment (DWE) tools for document management, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Participate in field visits to observe construction activities and validate design implementation.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including permitting, surface land, construction, GIS, and data analytics groups.
  • Document lessons learned and recommend opportunities for efficiency and data integration in civil workflows.
