About The Position

The Civil Engineer performs structural and civil engineering studies, designs, technical specification development, construction, and commissioning activities for the design and construction of Ameren Missouri's simple cycle and combined cycle energy centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
  • Missouri Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or commitment to actively pursue one in Missouri required.
  • Five or more years of civil engineering experience preferred.
  • Candidate must have good analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must also have capability to work effectively as part of a project team with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and projects.
  • Must be highly adaptable to a changing industry and willing to stay current with the latest industry technologies.
  • Willing to travel to project site locations.
  • Overnight travel is expected to be limited.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the design of steel, concrete structures and foundations preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience in the following commercial software applications is preferred: AutoCAD Civil 3D, LPILE, GROUP, SPMats, STAAD or similar FEA software.
  • High proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development and review of civil engineering specific requirements for simple cycle and combined cycle generation projects.
  • Lead civil engineering technical support for all phases of simple cycle and combined energy projects.
  • Prepare and review specifications and design plans for: Site civil design including site planning, drainage, grading, utilities, roadways, building sites, and earthworks.
  • Drainage design including stormwater management, storm sewer and underdrain systems, and culvert-pipe analysis.
  • Foundation design for steel and concrete piers, spread footings, and mat-slab foundations.
  • Steel structures and anchorage design for supporting equipment.
  • Geotechnical analysis and design review for site development, foundations, and buildings.
  • Create, review, and participate in projects design, planning, and constructability reviews, value engineering, permitting, risk review, and lessons learned.
  • Perform detailed civil and structural design and review of drawings, plans, specifications, and other project related documents.
  • Develop construction specifications and complete bid documents, direct drawing preparation and assist in providing cost estimates.
  • Interact and collaborate with various Engineering groups, vendors, contractors, architect/engineering firms, and internal customers to achieve project objectives.
  • Assist or lead in the planning, project oversight/management, inspections, and commissioning of projects.
  • Review shop drawings, perform site visits and inspections during construction, and use problem solving skills to develop timely resolutions to field issues.
