About The Position

Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer (Eng IV) with at least three years of experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer for our Irvine office . This role works collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering design for public works, hydrology/hydraulics, and utility projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
3+ years of civil engineering design experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of California with a minimum of 3 years of Public Works design experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely

Nice To Haves

Proficient in HEC-RAS, AutoCAD and Civil 3D a plus

Responsibilities

Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates
Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration
Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting
Develops broad knowledge and skills in public works civil engineering, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, storm water quality (LID, WQMP, SWPPP, SMARTS) and utilities
Evaluates, selects, and applies applicable standard plans/manuals, techniques, procedures, and criteria for conventional projects with few complex features
Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of projects
Works on small projects or portions of larger projects
Performs moderate drainage design, hydrology and hydraulics analysis tasks
Performs moderate stormwater quality tasks
Prepares portions of project technical reports, plans, specifications and estimates
Assigns tasks to and coordinates work with entry- level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff
Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
Assists with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings
Understands, follows, and enforces Huitt-Zollars' business process.
Productively collaborates with PMs and encourages teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives.
Assists PM on ensuring that quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects.
Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
Assists PM as needed on work planning.
Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project.
Assists PM on ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
Assists PMs as needed on reviewing project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget.
Assists PM in leading successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).
