Civil Engineer Intern
About The Position
A Civil Engineer Intern with Houston Engineering Inc. (HEI) will spend time in the field working on outdoor construction phase activities and possibly a variety of in-office projects assisting engineers. As an intern, responsibilities may include some or all of the following: We strive to provide a personalized internship based on your area of interest. This may include learning how to do roadway design, geometric layout, drainage analysis, erosion control, and construction engineering. Requirements
- Enrolled or enrolling in a Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering, Bioproducts and Biosystem Engineering, or related Engineering program.
- Able to work extended periods of time in outdoor conditions.
- Above average math and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and availability for overnight travel.
Nice To Haves
- Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD are preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate electronic survey instruments such as GPS and Total Station.
- Observation and data collection at different types of project sites.
- Assist with research, development and design of projects.
