About The Position

The Civil Engineer I is responsible for preparing site plans, grading plans, and various calculations (storm/water/steel/foundation) for energy infrastructure projects involving oil, gas, LNG, CNG, RNG, propane, and other energy systems. This role requires exercising discretion and judgment, applying engineering principles, and contributing to teams that help clients with energy delivery systems. The engineer will utilize computer programs for data gathering, calculations, studies, and report generation, attend client meetings, analyze various reports and drawings for project planning and design, and engage in project engineering tasks such as writing equipment specifications, sizing and evaluation, project reports, scheduling, cost estimates, and economic evaluations. The position also involves supporting proposal preparation, meticulously following quality procedures, demonstrating initiative in problem-solving, and working under the close supervision of senior staff. Progression towards Engineering Intern or Engineer In Training licensure is expected, and the role may involve representing the Company at job fairs and business development events, as well as directing the work of drafters and technicians.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer skills and a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Outlook are required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • 0 – 3 years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Civil 3D and structural design preferred.
  • EIT/EI preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare site plans, grading plans, storm/water/steel/foundation calculations, schematic designs, layouts, reports, procedures, etc. for energy infrastructure projects involving oil, gas, LNG, CNG, RNG, propane, and other energy systems and equipment.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment and apply engineering principles to meet project challenges.
  • Contribute to teams that help clients meet the challenges of energy delivery system operation and development.
  • Utilize various computer programs for data and information gathering, formula calculations, various studies and report generating and prepare written reports.
  • Attend client meetings - days or nights.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to plan and design projects.
  • Project engineering that may include writing equipment specifications, sizing and evaluation of equipment, writing project reports, project scheduling, preparation of project cost estimates, the economic evaluation of projects, etc.
  • Support preparation of project proposals.
  • Meticulously follow Company quality procedures and utilize quality tools.
  • Demonstrate initiative on moderate problem solving within assigned tasks.
  • Work under the close supervision of more senior staff.
  • Pass or progress towards Engineering Intern or Engineer In Training licensure.
  • Represent the Company at job fairs and at business development events and activities.
  • Direct work of drafters and technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
